Uppinangady, December 13, 2025: A herd of wild elephants that entered a plantation belonging to Mohandas Kamath, a resident of Neerakatte in nearby Bajathoor village, reportedly destroyed agricultural crops, including banana plants.
At around 3.15 am on Friday, dogs began barking loudly, and during this time the wild elephants entered the plantation and damaged the banana plants. Due to their movement, the water pipeline lines installed in the plantation were damaged, and the protective fencing erected around the land was also destroyed. Beehive boxes kept in the plantation were damaged in the elephant attack, resulting in heavy losses, the owner complained.
Mohandas Kamath said this was the third wild elephant attack since the onset of the monsoon. On the previous two occasions, the elephants had passed through the plantation area without causing damage, but this time they destroyed all the crops.
