Mangaluru, May 20, 2026: The fifth and final luxury cruise liner of the current cruise tourism season, ‘M.S. Seven Seas Navigator’, arrived at the New Mangalore Port on Tuesday.

The Bahamas-flagged luxury vessel, operated by the Norwegian Cruise Line, carried 427 passengers and 372 crew members.

Tourists disembarking at the port were accorded a grand traditional coastal welcome. The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) also organised sightseeing tours to major destinations in the city, tourism-related facilities, and special guided meditation sessions for the visitors.

Final Cruise of the Season

With the arrival of the ‘M.S. Seven Seas Navigator’, the New Mangalore Port has successfully concluded the current year’s cruise tourism season.

A total of five major cruise ships visited the port this season, handling 2,079 tourists successfully.

This has once again highlighted New Mangalore Port’s emergence as a key cruise tourism hub on India’s west coast.

Tourism Secretary, DC Visit Port

Karnataka Tourism Department Secretary Dr. Trilok Chandra K.V. and Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. visited the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) on Tuesday and held an important review meeting regarding cruise tourism initiatives and future development plans.

The dignitaries were warmly received by NMPA Deputy Chairperson S. Shanthi along with senior port officials and staff.

Boosting Karnataka’s Tourism Profile

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening the cruise tourism potential of New Mangalore Port and enhancing Karnataka’s position on the national and international tourism map.

Tourism Secretary Dr. Trilok Chandra personally inspected passenger handling facilities, immigration and customs arrangements, and cruise terminal infrastructure at the port.

NMPA officials explained that the New Mangalore Port serves as a major gateway to Coastal Karnataka’s renowned tourist attractions, including pristine beaches, historic temples, heritage centres, eco-tourism destinations, and cultural hubs.

The meeting also discussed strategies to attract more domestic and international luxury cruise ships in the coming years. Dr. Trilok Chandra appreciated the infrastructure development initiatives undertaken by the port authority to enhance passenger experience.
