Mangalore, August 5, 2011: A Maruti Omni car caught fire in Mangalore this morning, and the driver had a lucky escape. The driver had given the car for repairs at a garage near SCS Hospital and had moved the car just a few meters forward after repairs when the car caught fire.
Suresh, the driver of the car, later reported that he jumped out of the car as soon as he spotted the fire. The vehicle was covered in flames just a few minutes later.
The omni’s owner Alvin voiced his opinion that the fire might have been caused by a short circuit. The Omni had a dual fuel system, and an LPG cylinder was also inside the car. The Omni is now just a skeleton of its previous form.
The Kadri Police have registered a case.
