Mangalore, Feb 12, 2012: Speaking at the centenary celebration of the Akhila Bharata Billavara Union in Town Hall on Feb 12 Sunday, CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda said that Rs. 1000 crores will be earmarked in the upcoming budget for backward community development.
Besides, he promised a new theme park on Koti Chennayya in association with the department of tourism.
Further, he said that the recently inaugurated Koti Chennayya theme park will get an arboretum, which will be named in honor of Koti Chennayya’s sister and that funds for the same will be earmarked in the upcoming budget. He also promised grants to the new hostel, which the Billava Union plans to construct. While Rs. 5 crore is required for this project, the government has already promised Rs. 2 crore, and the CM promised as much as required to construct the hostel on the occasion.
He also informed the people that the state government has cancelled society audit fees for the benefit of the backward communities. Recalling the works of Billava leader Narayana Guru, he said that his messages are relevant to the modern day too.
A symbolic corner stone laying ceremony was also held on this occasion.
Naveenchandra D. Suvarna, the president of the Akhila Bharatha Billava Union, addressed the gathering, during which he requested a special package for the Koti Chennayya theme park.
R. L. Jaalappa, the former minister, released a special edition of Brahmashree Guruvani on this occasion.
N. Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the legislative assembly; Vinay Kumar Sorake, the AICC secretary; Belur Gopalkrishna, the MLA of Sagar; MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary; J. P. Narayana Swami, the president of the Karnataka Pradesh Arya Ediga Sangha; Suresh Poojary, the president of the Billava Jaagrithi Balaga; and many others were also present.
