Bengaluru, Jul 8, 2026: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Tuesday adopted five resolutions at its general body meeting, including a demand for a CBI and Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged irregularities in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and a ₹10,000-crore special package for drought relief in Karnataka.
The meeting, chaired by newly appointed KPCC president B K Hariprasad, also passed a resolution seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET question paper leak.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Hariprasad alleged that the Ram Temple Trust lacked transparency in accounting for public donations, including gold and silver offerings.
“Although an SIT has been constituted, action has been limited to employees, while no Trust member has been held accountable. The issue has hurt public sentiments and eroded people’s faith. We demand a CBI and SIT probe into the alleged irregularities and seek the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on moral grounds,” he said.
The meeting also focused on strengthening the party organisation. Senior Congress leaders Siddaramaiah and M Veerappa Moily suggested organising training camps at the taluk and district levels to prepare party workers to counter communal forces ideologically.
Several members stressed that caste considerations should not influence administrative decisions such as transfers. Proposals were also made to restructure Block Congress Committees and replace District Congress Committee office-bearers who have held their posts for more than 10 years.
Hariprasad announced that observers from other states would visit every block in Karnataka for a week and recommend panels of candidates for district president posts. He also urged office-bearers who have served for more than two years to step aside to allow new leadership to emerge.
He said the party would organise one-day programmes in the 84 Assembly constituencies where the Congress lost in the last election, while continuing to strengthen its presence in the remaining 140 constituencies.
To improve coordination between the party and the state government, Hariprasad said a political committee and an implementation committee would be constituted. He also called for the early conduct of local body elections.
The general body meeting passed resolutions endorsing the appointment of B K Hariprasad as KPCC president and D K Shivakumar as Chief Minister, while welcoming Siddaramaiah’s induction into the Congress Working Committee (CWC).
The KPCC also appreciated Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala for his role in strengthening the party in Karnataka and congratulated AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on his re-election to the Rajya Sabha.
