Mangaluru, Aug 23, 2026: A 25-year-old youth drowned after entering a river to retrieve a football that had accidentally fallen into the water near the ferry point at Kasaba Bengre on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Sanaulla (25).


Youth Drowns in Kasaba Bengre


The incident occurred when a group of children were playing football near the ferry point. After the ball fell into the river, Sanaulla entered the water to help retrieve it.

However, his foot reportedly became stuck in the muddy riverbank. He was subsequently pulled into deeper waters and drowned.

Local residents and the children who witnessed the incident immediately rescued Sanaulla and administered first aid before rushing him to a hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
