Bengaluru, Aug 22, 2026: IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, a 2016-batch Karnataka cadre officer currently serving in the MSME Department, has reportedly gone untraceable after travelling from Bengaluru to Delhi, prompting authorities to verify his whereabouts.
According to police sources, Gangwar arrived at Kempegowda International Airport on August 20 and boarded an IndiGo flight to Delhi at around 3 pm. He landed in the national capital at approximately 6 pm and is said to have hired a cab from the airport. His whereabouts have reportedly remained unknown since then.
Sources said Gangwar had booked the flight ticket at the last minute, paying Rs 30,200 through an HDFC Bank card.
Police are examining his movements after reaching Delhi and are also verifying details of the cab he took from the airport.
A senior Bengaluru police officer said efforts were underway to trace the officer based on available information. However, no formal missing person complaint has been filed, and his family has not raised any suspicion of foul play.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Home Minister Priyank Kharge said the government was aware of reports that the officer had been untraceable for the past two to three days and was looking into the matter.
“Neither the family nor anyone else has lodged a missing complaint. We are verifying his whereabouts. As of now, there is no information confirming where he is,” Kharge said.
Gangwar is believed to have previously served with the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), which has recently been under scrutiny over allegations of examination paper leaks and an Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation.
