Karnataka man arrested after Instagram activity raises suspected Pakistan gang links

Bengaluru, Aug 22, 2026: A 25-year-old man has been arrested by Doddaballapur City Police in Bengaluru for allegedly attempting to establish contact with people linked to Pakistan through social media.

The accused, identified as Syed Abubakar, was arrested from his house in Islampur, Doddaballapur, in Bengaluru Rural district. He worked as an AC repairman and also taught at a mosque in Bengaluru.

Abubakar Used Instagram

According to police, Abubakar had been in contact with an Instagram account allegedly linked to a Pakistani gang for nearly two years. The gang is suspected of threatening prominent people and businessmen and extorting money.

Police said Abubakar used the Instagram account sayedabudakar313 and came under suspicion after his social media activity was noticed. Investigators found that he had interacted with reels featuring gangsters allegedly linked to Pakistan.

He had also allegedly shared a copy of his complete Aadhaar card details with a person using the Instagram account Hammadmemon333. Police said he logged into the account as part of his interactions.

Photographs Of Guns, Pistols 

During the investigation, officers reportedly found photographs of guns and pistols on Abubakar’s mobile phone. Police also said the accused had shown a keen interest in firearms.

Investigators are questioning Abubakar to determine the nature of his alleged links and whether he had attempted to establish contact with alleged Pakistani gangsters.

Police have seized his mobile phone and are examining its contents as part of the ongoing investigation into the suspected Pakistan connection.

Police also suspect that Abubakar had travelled to Kerala and Delhi and received training as part of his alleged association with the gang.

He has been taken into custody for further questioning and investigation.

A case has been registered under Sections 113(3) and 197(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
