Mysuru, July 7, 2026: Former Karnataka minister B. Sriramulu on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government, alleging that the party has betrayed former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the same manner it had once sidelined the late Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs.
Addressing reporters in Mysuru, the BJP leader claimed Siddaramaiah has been completely marginalised following the change in leadership.

"The Congress came to power with Siddaramaiah’s blessings, but has now confined him to his Kaveri residence. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar excessively appeased Siddaramaiah until assuming office. Now, he is not even invited to a single official programme. People are watching all this and will teach the Congress a lesson in the 2028 Assembly elections," Sriramulu alleged.
Alleges conspiracy against Yathindra
Sriramulu also claimed there was a conspiracy within the ruling Congress against Urban Development Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
"A section of Congress leaders is unhappy with Yathindra holding the Urban Development portfolio. At the same time, considering the allegations against Siddaramaiah’s family in the MUDA site scam, it is inappropriate for Yathindra to head the department. In my personal opinion, he should step down. Such views are also being expressed by some Congress leaders," he said.
Targets Chief Minister
Criticising Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Sriramulu alleged that the latter was behaving as though Bengaluru alone represented Karnataka.
"Even after completing a month in office, the Chief Minister has hardly stepped out of Bengaluru, except for a brief visit to Kalaburagi on Monday. At a time when the state is witnessing severe weather-related challenges, the Chief Minister is busy celebrating Kanakotsava," he alleged.
He also criticised Revenue Minister G. Parameshwara, questioning his absence and accusing him of failing to guide officials in addressing public grievances.
Jarkiholi adopts wait-and-watch approach
Meanwhile, former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi declined to comment on the functioning of the government.
"I have decided not to speak about this government for three months. One month has passed, and I will comment only after the remaining two months. I am not an astrologer to predict whether this government will survive or collapse," Jarkiholi told reporters in Mysuru.
He added that Siddaramaiah’s alleged sidelining was an internal matter of the Congress party.
