Vitla, July 8, 2026: Vitla Police on July 6 arrested a theft accused who had been absconding for the past three years and had failed to appear before the court for trial.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rajesh (41), a resident of Belthangady.


Absconded man arrested after three years

Rajesh was an accused in a theft case registered at Vitla Police Station (Crime No. 204/2018) under Section 379 of the IPC. He had been evading court proceedings and remained absconding for nearly three years.

The accused was traced and arrested in Mangaluru by Vitla Police personnel, including ASI Jayaram, CPC Venkappa and CPC Shivananda, on July 6. He was subsequently produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
