Vittla: Two arrested in serial truck battery theft cases

Vittla, July 8, 2026: Vittla Police have arrested two persons in connection with a series of truck battery thefts reported within the police station limits.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Shameer P.A. (50), a resident of Charkala in Kasaragod, and Abdul Majid (33), a resident of Muttathody in Kasaragod.

According to police, five cases of truck battery thefts had been registered at the Vittla Police Station under Crime Nos. 38/2025, 39/2026, 41/2026, 123/2026, and 126/2026. The thefts involved batteries being stolen from trucks parked overnight.

Following an investigation, Vittla Police traced and arrested the two accused. The stolen property, comprising 10 truck batteries, was recovered from their possession.

The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
