Mangaluru, Jan 20, 2020: To serve an IIT in a prestigious position is a great honour. An extremely talented and experienced engineer hailing from Barkur in Udupi district has made his home district proud through his exceptional abilities. He is now appointed as Registrar of IIT Guwahati.
Dr S M Suresh from Barkur had his initial education at National Primary School, Hanehalli and National Junior College, Barkur. He pursued engineering at the BMS Engineering College, Bengaluru and later did his post graduation at NITK. He even went on to secure a doctorate from Sambalpur University.
Suresh who had an impressive stint of 12 years in Karnataka State Financial Corporation, subsequently served his alma mater BMS College of Engineering for 11 years. He then served in the capacity of Director of All India Council of Technical Education for five years. Dr Subhash has been a member of the core team for the National Board of Accreditation in 2010 and was also involved in the policy making process of the Board.
He will now be serving as Registrar of IIT Guwahati for a period of five years. Happily married to Indira who is a teacher in National Public School, Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, the couple is blessed with two sons.
