Mangaluru, Feb 11, 2017: It is a great honour for the land of Kannadigas to have one of its distinguished men re-elected for the second term as General Secretary of the largest protestant church in India- The Church of South India. He is Dr Daniel Rathnakara Sadananda, an eminent New Testament Scholar.

An authority on Johannine theology, Dr Sadananda has also contributed to the history of the Basel Evangelical Mission by initiating research into Moegling’s encyclopedia, Bibliotheca Carnatica[6] and Ferdinand Kittel’s complete works.
After ministerial formation at the Karnataka Theological College, Mangaluru, Sadananda was ordained as Deacon in 1986, and as Presbyter in 1989. He did his Masters in Theology specializing in New Testament, from the United Theological College, Bengaluru and went on to do his doctoral studies at the Kirchliche Hochschule, Bethel, Bielefeld in Germany.
He began his career as a teacher at Karnataka Theological College, Mangaluru and later was promoted as Professor of New Testament.
Presently, he is holding the position of President of the United Theological College, Bengaluru, Vice President of National Council of Churches in India and Executive Secretary of the Communion of Churches in India, joint council of CSI, CNI and Marthoma Churches, Honorary Correspondent of Kittel Memorial PU College and High School in Mangaluru and UBMC Higher Primary School at Gorigudda. Dr Sadananda has also served as Director of Sahodaya Programme Centre of KTC.
