Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2017: Mangalore University, the pride of the region and a seat of higher learning has more reasons than one to be proud of its Vice Chancellor Prof.K Byrappa. An acclaimed academician, Prof. Byrappa was recently awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London, an honour in recognition of his outstanding academic contribution to the field of Chemistry. It was an honour that came his way after he was chosen as the Fellow of Asian Pacific of Materials earlier in April.
Prof. Byrappa who hails from Mysuru, obtained M.Sc. degree in Geology from University of Mysore with a distinction, first rank and gold medals. He has also done his Ph.D from Moscow State University apart from diploma in Russian language and certificate in German and Japanese languages.
He served the University of Mysore for over 31 years before being appointed Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University. There is more to cheer as far as the Royal Society of Chemistry Fellowship that came his way recently as he is the first person from Mangalore University to receive this honour.
A recipient of Sir C V Raman birth centenary Gold Medal, Byrappa has also a fellowship of the World Academy of Ceramics. With over 290 research publications to his credit. Prof. Byrappa has also addressed various national and international conferences.
