Mangaluru, April 17, 2026: A grant of ₹165 crore has been released by the state government for development works in the Mangaluru City Corporation under Phase II of the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikas Yojana (MGNVP), said MLC Ivan D’Souza.
Addressing a press conference at his office in the MCC building on Thursday, he said the foundation stone for the development projects will be laid on April 18.
Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh will lay foundation stones for works worth ₹3 crore near Maravoor bridge, ₹1.95 crore near Valencia Church, ₹2 crore at Chilimbigudde, and other key projects near Sunkadakatte Urvastores. Some works have already commenced within the Mangaluru City Corporation limits, he added.
The official programme will be held on Saturday in the presence of Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Ivan D’Souza further said that a total of 25 development works have been taken up, including concreting of roads at Bolara Seaface in front of the waterfront promenade, K.N. Board Yard Road, Lobo River Road, TVS Factory Road, Canara Plywood Road, and roads in the 60th Bengre Ward, at an estimated cost of ₹5 crore.
