Bengaluru, Sep 20, 2026: Union Minister and former Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday criticised the state government’s decision to hold a Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru, describing it as an exercise by a “touring talkies” Cabinet.

Kumaraswamy said the expenditure incurred on taking a large entourage to the district could instead have been utilised for measures aimed at improving the lives of farmers.

Questioning the utility of holding Cabinet meetings outside Bengaluru, he noted that previous chief ministers had also conducted such meetings at district headquarters.

“What has come out of them? Apart from wasting public money, what else has happened?” he asked.

Kumaraswamy also responded to criticism from IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge, asking him to first address allegations related to the recruitment of 24 engineers through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

“Let time decide who is doing the hit-and-run,” Kumaraswamy said.
