Kasaragod: Couple found dead in farm pond at their own property

Kasaragod, Sep 19, 2026: A couple was found dead in a farm pond located on their residential property at Maloth in Vellarikundu, Kasaragod district, on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Sabu (56), a resident of Thadathil in Karyattuchal, and his wife Saji Sabu (52). Their bodies were found floating in the farm pond at around 2 pm on Friday.

According to available information, the couple had gone to their farm for agricultural work. When they did not return home by evening, their son Melvin went in search of them. He reportedly found their bodies floating in the farm pond on the property.

On receiving information from local residents, Vellarikundu police reached the spot and initiated the necessary legal procedures, including an inquest.

The exact circumstances leading to the couple’s deaths are not yet known. Police have launched a detailed investigation.

Officials said the exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem examination.
