Fisherman rescues driver, three-year-old after car falls into river in Udupi

Udupi, Sep 20, 2026: A fisherman rescued a car driver and his three-year-old son after the vehicle lost control and plunged into a river near Chennangady, close to Kodavoor, on Saturday.

The fisherman, identified as Ganesh from Chennangady, noticed the car falling into the river near the Chennangady bridge. Without wasting any time, he jumped into the water and reached the vehicle.

As the car began filling with water, Ganesh managed to pull the trapped driver and the frightened child out of the vehicle and bring them safely to the riverbank.

Ganesh’s prompt action and courage in risking his life to save the two have drawn widespread appreciation from the local community.
