BJP leaders criticised the state government’s price hike policy, alleging that it was placing an additional financial burden on the common people. They demanded that the government withdraw the price increases.
Dakshina Kannada BJP president Satish Kumpala, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, and party leaders Premanand Shetty, Manjula Rao, Poornima, Vasanth Kumar and Nandan Mallya, along with other elected representatives and party workers, participated in the protest.
Vedavyas Kamath accuses government of burdening people
Addressing the issue, Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath alleged that successive price increases in essential commodities were putting an additional financial burden on the public.
Questioning where the revenue generated through the price hikes was being spent, he alleged that the increases were aimed at raising funds for elections in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
He further accused the Congress government of using Karnataka’s resources to please Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, claiming that the burden of election expenditure was being passed on to the people of the state.
Kamath held the state government responsible for the rising prices of essential commodities and strongly criticised its policies.
