Mangaluru: Two arrested for selling banned LSD; drugs worth Rs 3.35 lakh seized

Mangaluru, Nov 5, 2026: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two persons for allegedly selling the banned narcotic drug LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide) in Mangaluru and seized 100 LSD strips worth approximately Rs 3 lakh from them.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nihal Sampras Rodrigues (30), a resident of Alape in Padil, and Siddharth Shetty (35), a resident of Urwa Stores in Mangaluru.

Acting on credible information that the accused were procuring banned narcotic drug strips from Bengaluru and selling them in Mangaluru, targeting members of the public and students, CCB personnel conducted an operation near the Padil railway bridge on the afternoon of November 3 and arrested the duo.

The police seized 100 LSD strips valued at around Rs 3 lakh and three mobile phones from their possession. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 3.35 lakh.

Nihal has previously been booked in a drug peddling case at the Mangaluru North Police Station. Siddharth Shetty also has a criminal record, with nine cases registered against him at the Barke and Urwa police stations. These include cases related to assault, attempt to murder and ganja peddling.

A case has been registered at the Kankanady Town Police Station, and further investigation is underway.

The police suspect that several others are involved in the drug supply and distribution network. Efforts are on to identify and trace the remaining accused. CCB officers and personnel participated in the operation, and the investigation is continuing to uncover the wider drug trafficking network.
