Mangaluru, Nov 6, 2026: BJP National Spokesperson and Supreme Court senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia on Friday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of attempting to create unrest in the country and comparing him to a "foolish child" holding a "toolkit".
Addressing a press conference in Mangaluru on November 6, Bhatia levelled several allegations against the Congress and Rahul Gandhi.
He said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls had been conducted 12 times in the country, including 10 times during Congress rule. Questioning the Congress’s opposition to the exercise, he asked why the party had not challenged the process when it was conducted in 2004, but was now calling it unconstitutional under the BJP government.
Bhatia further alleged that the UPA government, which was in power from 2004 to 2014, had avoided conducting the SIR exercise due to minority appeasement politics and to facilitate illegal infiltrators from Bangladesh.
Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s demand for a debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhatia advised the Congress leader to first understand the Constitution of India. He said Gandhi should familiarise himself with the subject before seeking a debate and claimed that he would run away within five minutes if one took place.
In another attack, Bhatia described Rahul Gandhi as a "defective product" that never gets launched properly.
Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, BJP district president Satish Kumpala and other party leaders were present at the press conference.
