Udupi: Two police personnel suspended, PSI faces disciplinary action over lapses in Pradeep Poojary case

Udupi, Nov 6, 2026: Disciplinary action has been initiated against police personnel for alleged dereliction of duty in connection with the assault on Pradeep Poojary and the case related to abetment of his suicide, Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP) Hariram Shankar said.

Providing details of the action taken, the SP said the Additional Superintendent of Police had submitted an enquiry report, which was subsequently forwarded to the Western Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG).

Pradeep Poojary case

As part of the action, the PSI attached to Hiriyadka Police Station has been deputed to the Western Range DIG’s office, and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the officer.

Meanwhile, two police personnel who had been assigned security duty at the hospital have been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty. The action was taken based on an enquiry report submitted by the Police Inspector of the Women’s Police Station.

The SP said further disciplinary proceedings would also be initiated against the suspended personnel.
