FIR registered against Pratap Simha over alleged provocative speech

Mysuru, Sep 20, 2026: An FIR has been registered against former MP Pratap Simha at the T. Narasipur police station for allegedly delivering a provocative speech during a Shobha Yatra procession in T. Narasipur taluk.

Police sources said a case was registered against Simha and his associates under Sections 132, 191, 194 and 196(1)(a)(b), read with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The case pertains to allegedly provocative slogans raised during the procession. Police said the slogans had the potential to disturb public peace, promote hatred and animosity between communities, and hurt religious sentiments.

Mysuru Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi confirmed that the FIR was registered against Simha in connection with the alleged provocative speech.

Reacting to the case, Opposition Leader R Ashoka said that 25 cases had already been registered against Simha and that the latest case was “just one more”. He said they would not be intimidated and “will neither bend nor back down.”
