The visit comes a day after the special Cabinet meeting held in Mangaluru on Friday, where several proposals related to the fisheries sector were discussed. Officials from the Fisheries Department and district administration briefed the Chief Minister on proposed initiatives.

During the visit, Shivakumar also noticed that trading activities at the harbour had been shut down and questioned officials about the reason. He reportedly directed officials to initiate suspension proceedings against those responsible for ordering the closure of the harbour.
