Mangaluru: Man arrested for derogatory social media post made while abroad

Mangaluru, December 9, 2025: Police have arrested Felix Edward Mathais (56) for allegedly posting content on social media that could incite hatred while he was abroad.

In February 2024, Felix had reportedly shared derogatory posts on social media about the Bhagavad Gita and women. A case in this regard had been registered at Kankanady Town Police Station. At the time of posting, the accused was employed in Saudi Arabia. Originally a resident of Charkop, Mumbai, police collected information about him and issued a lookout notice.


Derogatory social media post-Man arrested


Immigration officials later informed police when Felix arrived at Mumbai’s Sahar Airport. Accordingly, he was detained at the airport on December 5, brought to Mangaluru, and produced before the court. Police have submitted a report seeking seizure of his passport.

Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy stated that another accused in the case, Evijin John D’Souza (57), had been arrested earlier on August 11, 2024.
