Mangaluru, June 9, 2026: Four persons were arrested for allegedly siphoning diesel from a tanker truck parked near Bala village on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

The arrests were made following a raid conducted by officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department based on a tip-off. According to a complaint filed by Food Inspector H.B. Manjunath, who was on inspection duty in the Surathkal area along with village assistant Harshitha and driver Umesh, information was received about diesel being illegally extracted from a tanker near the Bala Tanker Yard.

Acting swiftly, the team reached the spot through the Cargo Gate route and found a tanker parked beside a mud road. During the raid, officials allegedly caught four individuals involved in extracting diesel from the tanker using a plastic pipe and filling it into a container.

The team seized a lorry, a 20-litre can containing diesel, a plastic siphoning pipe and a key allegedly used to open the tanker’s fuel tank.

The accused have been identified as Kishore Kumar, Ravi, Suresh Moolya and Anand Kumar Sengottiyan.

Officials alleged that the accused had illegally removed diesel from the tanker without the owner’s knowledge and stored it without valid authorisation. Authorities also noted that the activity posed a serious fire hazard.

The four were taken into custody, and a case has been registered at the Surathkal Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
