Mangaluru, June 16, 2024: A new baby crocodile, named Babiya-3, first sighted in November last year at the Sri Ananthapadmanabha Temple, also known as Sarovara Kshethra in Kumble, delighted devotees with its first full body appearance on Friday evening in an elevated area of the temple.
The original Babiya crocodile, a revered resident of the temple pond for nearly 80 years, passed away on October 9, 2022. Exactly a year after its death, the baby crocodile was spotted in the pond. However, its full view remained elusive to devotees until now.
On June 14, Babiya-3 was seen resting on a stone in front of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Although the temple was closed at the time, the temple priest arrived in the evening, captured a photo, and shared it with the public.
