He also informed the audience that Mysore University has published the fifth volume of “Kannada Sahitya Charite,” which comprised Dasa Sahitya and Vachana Sahitya. Speaking about the greatness of vachanas, he said that they preach humanity and equality. Although Dasa Sahitya did not gain immense publicity because it gives more importance to caste, it is rich in culture and poetry, he said.

He further said that Mangalore University has 17 pitas, which include the Tulu Pita, the Yakshagana Pita, the Shivarama Karanth Pita, the M. V. Shashtri Pita, the N. G. Ten of these pitas are related to the culture, geography, and language of Mangalore and Kodava Pita and Buddha Pita will soon be established, he said.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has given “A” grade to University College not for its infrastructure, but for the quality education imparted there, he said.

The Bangalore-based poet Dr. L. Hanumanthayya was the chief guest of the event. Speaking about Kanaka Dasa, he said that he the most superior of the dasas and became famous for his virtue of detachment.
