Harekala-Adyar bridge open for traffic

Mangaluru, Apr 01, 2023: Vehicular traffic has been allowed on the  Vented dam cum bridge that connects Harekala in Ullal village to Adyar-Kannur on the National Highway 75, beginning from April 1, Saturday.

 

The authorities have permitted the movement of two, three and four wheelers on the road and this has fulfilled a longstanding demand of the people of the region.

The project has not been officially inaugurated in view of the code of conduct. The villagers had requested the local MLA U T Khader to allow vehicular movement on the bridge.

Accordingly, the MLA had asked the officials to heed to the request. The dam work however is not yet complete and therefore motorists have to be careful while driving, the MLA has urged.

 The Rs 195.50 crore  project is the biggest project undertaken by the Irrigation Department under Paschima Vahini scheme.The bridge is 520 meters long, 10.6 meter tall and 10 meters wide. There is a pedestrian track on either side of the bridge.

The Foundation for this project was laid on March 21, 2020.
