Mangaluru, Apr 01, 2023: Leaders of Mangaluru Pradesh Catholic Sabha led by its President Stany Lobo met Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police Amathe Vikram and have submitted a complaint against Dr M K Prasad of Puttur accusing him of delivering an inflammatory speech targeted against Christian community. The memorandum has also requested the Police Department to initiate action in this case.
The Catholic Sabha in its complaint stated that Dr Prasad at a recent programme organised by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike had used offensive words against the Christian community, The memorandum said this may cause unrest in the society. It also drew the attention of the SP towards the fact that the speech made by Dr Prasad during the event was shared widely on WhatsApp.
It drew the attention of the SP regarding the speech of Dr Prasad in which he reportedly said "The land where Christian institutions are run were given by the British and we (Hindus) have no land. We have only India and if these people (Christians) drive us away where shall we run, should be jump into the sea?"
The memorandum said Dr Prasad in his speech also referred to Christian institutions like St Philomena, Bethany and St Victor institutes and said they have taken a major chunk of land.
The memorandum said the speech by Dr Prasad would instill hatred against the community and urged the SP to take action. The leaders also submitted a memorandum to Mangaluru Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain.
