New Delhi, May 11, 2025: The Indian Air Force (IAF) announced on Sunday that it had "successfully executed its assigned tasks" as part of Operation Sindoor, launched to target terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK). This development comes a day after India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire following days of escalating military exchanges.
Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, was in response to last month’s deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the IAF highlighted the precision and professionalism involved in its operations.
"The Indian Air Force has successfully executed its assigned tasks in Operation Sindoor with precision and professionalism. Operations were conducted in a deliberate and discreet manner, aligned with National Objectives. Since operations are ongoing, a detailed briefing will be provided in due course. We urge all to refrain from speculation and dissemination of unverified information," the IAF stated.
The announcement followed a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan to halt all military actions on land, air, and sea. However, the fragile truce was tested just hours later as drones were reportedly sighted and intercepted in Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, and parts of Gujarat. India accused Pakistan of violating the agreement, prompting immediate counter-responses from Indian forces.
“Repeated violations of the understanding reached earlier today have been noted, including breaches along the International Border and the Line of Control,” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said during a late-night press briefing. He emphasized that the armed forces were responding "adequately and appropriately" to these provocations.
Calling for Pakistan to act responsibly, Misri said, “We urge Pakistan to take appropriate steps to prevent further violations and address the situation with seriousness and responsibility.” He assured that India’s armed forces remain on high alert and have been instructed to respond strongly to any further breaches.
Amid these developments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting at his residence on Sunday afternoon. Attendees included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the tri-services.
The situation remains tense as India continues to monitor the ceasefire violations closely while ensuring a robust defense posture along the borders.
