Bengaluru: Man kills two minor daughters in five-star hotel, attempts suicide

Bengaluru, Aug 11, 2026: A 45-year-old man allegedly strangled his two minor daughters inside a five-star hotel room before attempting to take his own life in Bengaluru on Monday, in a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves across the city.

Police suspect that marital discord with his estranged wife may have led to the incident.

The incident was reported at Taj Bangalore, located opposite Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

According to preliminary investigations, S G Imran, a manager at a private company in Bengaluru, checked into the hotel with his daughters, Shaik Zoya, 10, and Shaik Zehara, 8, around 5.30 pm on Sunday. The three stayed overnight in a fourth-floor room.

Police suspect that Imran strangled his daughters and later attempted suicide by slitting his throat.

Around 4 pm on Monday, a housekeeper knocked on the door for routine cleaning but received no response. Hotel staff and security personnel subsequently opened the room using a master key and found the two girls lying dead on the bed. Imran was found injured in the bathroom with stab wounds to his throat. Blood was reportedly found on his clothes and the floor, while a knife was recovered nearby.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) G K Mithun Kumar said Imran was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment.

Police reached the hotel and conducted an investigation at the scene. Scene of Crime (SOCO) personnel carried out a spot mahazar, while the bodies of the two girls were shifted for post-mortem examination.

Police have also recovered a purported note from the hotel room in which Imran allegedly confessed to killing his daughters. In the note, he reportedly referred to marital disputes with his wife and alleged that she was involved in an affair with another person. He also claimed to have evidence relating to the alleged affair.

“Certain aspects have been specified in the note, which we are investigating. The man also mentioned his mother and brother,” DCP Kumar said.

Imran lived with his daughters at Bilal Nagar on Nagawara Main Road, while his wife had reportedly been living separately for the past couple of months.

Police are continuing their investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident.
