Mangaluru, May 11, 2025: Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan urged major enterprises and industries in the district to maintain constant vigilance over their safety and security arrangements. Chairing the District Disaster Monitoring Committee meeting on Saturday, he directed key stakeholders, including oil and gas industries, the port, and the airport, to conduct immediate safety drills in coordination with the district administration.
Mr. Muhilan noted that the district’s 24x7 control room was operational, while City Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal was conducting surprise checks to assess stakeholders’ preparedness.
Separately, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a safety review meeting with district administrations via video conference on Saturday. During the meeting, Mr. Muhilan highlighted regular monitoring of security at vital industries, infrastructure facilities, religious sites, and crowded areas.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal informed that additional check posts had been established at key locations, with vehicles entering the city being screened. Nighttime police pickets were also deployed, he said. To curb misinformation on social media, the police booked several violators and imposed restrictions on drone usage in the city.
District Superintendent of Police N. Yatish, Zilla Panchayat CEO K. Anandh, industry representatives, and other officials participated in the meeting.
Flying of drones Prohibited in Mangaluru till May 14
In a significant public safety measure, Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, IPS, issued a complete ban on drones within Mangaluru city limits. The prohibition, effective from 4 p.m. on May 10 to 4 p.m. on May 14, applies to all drone activity within the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. The order, aimed at maintaining law and order, also restricts drone-based aerial filming during this period.
