Ullal, Jun 24, 2026: A major mishap was averted when the driver of a moving private bus reportedly suffered a sudden drop in blood pressure and collapsed at the wheel, causing the vehicle to lose control and climb onto a road divider near Yenepoya Hospital in Deralakatte on Tuesday morning.
The private service bus, named Gopalakrishna, which operates between Mudipu and State Bank, veered out of control and mounted the median on the road. According to reports, the incident occurred when the bus reached Deralakatte from Mudipu and the driver, Janardhan, experienced low blood pressure and collapsed over the steering wheel.

Fortunately, none of the passengers on board sustained any injuries, and a potentially serious accident was avoided.
The stretch of road in front of Yenepoya Hospital is known for motorists frequently taking U-turns by driving in the wrong direction. However, at the time of the incident, no vehicles were in the bus’s path, helping prevent a major tragedy.
Janardhan, who was in a critical condition due to the sudden drop in blood pressure, was immediately admitted to Yenepoya Hospital nearby. He recovered after receiving treatment.
Personnel from the Mangaluru South Traffic Police Station visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
