Assembly elections: 17,58,647 voters in DK, strict vigil through 27 check posts, says DC

Mangaluru, Mar 30, 2023: There are a total of 17,58,647 voters in the eight Assembly constituencies of Dakshina Kannada district. Of these voters, 8,98,132 are female voters while 8,59,899 are male voters, informed Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar M R.

 

Speaking to reporters here on March 30, Thursday, he said the  last date for filing nomination will be April 20 and that the gazette notification will be issued on April 13. He said April 24 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination and the voting will be on May 10 and counting will be held at NITK Suratkal on May 13.

The Deputy Commissioner said  that there are 60,934 voters above 80 years and those with disabilities.

He said there will be 1860 polling stations including 100 model polling stations.
As many as 27 check posts have been set up, he said adding 24 surveillance teams, 60 static surveillance teams, 60 flying squads, 8 video viewing teams, 8 accounting teams, 8 nodal officers and 8 assistant expenditure observers have been appointed.

C-vigil mobile app has been developed for complaining regarding violation of model code of conduct. For this purpose, people can dial 1950 toll free number, the DC said.

Though there is no restriction for religious programme, no promotional programmes are allowed by parties in such events.

Those having arms and weapons will have to deposit them within ten days at the local station and people carrying cash above Rs 50,000 must have valid documents, the DC said.

ZP CEO Kumar, District Superintendent of Police Amathe Vikram, City Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain were present.
