Mangaluru, April 19, 2026: The Silicon Beach Programme (SBP) has launched ‘BaseCamp’, a zero-profit initiative aimed at helping IT professionals and companies establish operations in Mangaluru and nearby regions without concerns over infrastructure, talent acquisition, taxation and logistics.

Launching the initiative at wrkwrk Triangle in Kottara on Saturday, Mangaluru North MLA Y. Bharat Shetty said BaseCamp comes at an opportune time, following SBP’s earlier platform ‘HomeComing’.

SBP convener and entrepreneur Rohith Bhat, founder of Robosoft Technologies, 99Games and wrkwrk, said while ‘HomeComing’ focused on talent supply, BaseCamp addresses the demand and infrastructure side. He noted that the initiative will enable companies to set up and operate satellite offices in Coastal Karnataka with support from experts, particularly from Bengaluru.

Rohith Bhat said BaseCamp will act as an on-ground transition partner, making it easier for firms to start and scale operations in the region. He added that the concept was inspired by assisting US-based firms Vinyl Equity and Entrupy in establishing offices in Mangaluru.

Vinyl Equity Director Nagaraj Acharya said the company had initially considered cities like Pune, Bengaluru and Gurgaon, but chose Mangaluru due to its supportive ecosystem and SBP’s facilitation.

Entrupy’s Head of People Operations Vishal Kanchan said the company began operations in Mangaluru in September 2025 with a small team and has since grown to employ over 40 people without facing compliance challenges. An alumnus of Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Institute of Technology, he said he had long supported expanding operations in the city.

Rohith Bhat highlighted that with a strong talent pool and five IT parks, Mangaluru has the potential to accommodate a large number of IT companies.
