AP, January 17, 2026: Festivals in Andhra Pradesh are often known for food, family gatherings and big celebrations. Sankranti, in particular, holds special meaning as it brings relatives together after the harvest season. This year, one family from the Konaseema region took their celebrations to another level.

What began as a traditional welcome for a newly married couple soon turned into a feast that caught attention far beyond the village, thanks to its scale, detail and cultural touch.

Andhra Family’s Grand Sankranti Gesture

A family from Adurru village in Mamidikuduru mandal, Konaseema, Andhra Pradesh, recently hosted a Sankranti celebration that has now gone viral. The celebration was organised by Vijjapu Venkata Ratnam and his wife Sushila for their daughter Keerthisri and son-in-law Boddu Sai Sharath.

The occasion marked the couple’s first visit to the bride’s home after marriage, a moment that carries deep cultural importance in many households. To make it memorable, the family planned a grand welcome that stood out for its sheer size.

Family Prepares 1,374 Dishes For Couple

According to details shared online, the family prepared an incredible 1,374 varieties of food items and sweets for the couple. The spread reflected the rich food culture of the Godavari delta, which is known for generous portions and festive cooking.

Decorated welcome boards with warm messages were placed around the venue, adding a personal touch to the celebration. These details showed the effort taken to make the couple feel special and honoured during their visit.

In the video now circulating on social media, the newly married couple can be seen seated together as they look around at the massive spread laid out in front of them. The camera slowly moves across rows of dishes arranged neatly on tables.

From biryani and burgers to fried snacks, buttermilk, fresh juices, sweets, fresh fruits, homemade snacks and many other items, the variety seems endless. It also had select dishes sourced from different places in the region, all arranged carefully. The visual focus remains on the scale of the food, highlighting how much care and planning went into the feast.

Apart from the food, the hosts also presented 12 symbolic gifts to the couple. These gifts represented the 12 months of the year and were meant to wish the newlyweds happiness and abundance throughout their married life.

How Are People Reacting To The Video?

As the clip gained attention, opinions poured in. A person commented, “What’s the use…of this… at least try to donate some sweets to poor children..they feel happy …and get blessings."

Another wrote, “I wanna watch him finish all that." “Same people will cry if the groom asks for dowry," someone said, while another added, “This show off is very common in Godavari districts, AP every year. Really don’t know what examples they set for society."

A few comments were lighter in tone, too. A user said, “Very small plate though." Another wrote, “I belong to that region.. sabke sab showbaaz hai.. bekaar hai." Someone also pointed out, “wish daughter-in-laws could also get such treatment ever."
