Mangaluru, July 26, 2026: A former Gram Panchayat president died after collapsing while addressing a meeting at Sampaje in Sullia taluk on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as (62), former President of Chembu Gram Panchayat and former President of the Sampaje Payaswini Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society.

The incident occurred during the annual general meeting of the Payaswini Cooperative Bank held at Sampaje. According to reports, Santyar was speaking at the meeting when he suddenly suffered a suspected heart attack and collapsed on the stage.
He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sullia, where doctors declared him dead despite efforts to revive him.
The sudden demise of the veteran cooperative leader has shocked those present at the meeting and members of the local community.
