Case Filed Against Kalladka School Management Following Child’s Death in Tree Fall Tragedy

Mangaluru, July 26, 2026: The Bantwal Rural Police have registered a case against the management of Kalladka Sri Ram Vidya Kendra after an investigation into the death of a six-year-old child revealed that the school vehicle involved in the accident was operating without a valid insurance policy and fitness certificate.

The incident occurred at Barimar in the Bantwal Rural police station limits, where a tree fell on a school vehicle, killing a six-year-old child. Following the tragedy, police had registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR No. 35/2026) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

As part of the investigation, police sought a report from the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) on the validity of the vehicle’s documents. The report confirmed that both the vehicle’s insurance policy and fitness certificate had expired at the time of the accident.

Investigators also found that the vehicle was not registered in the name of Sri Ram Vidya Kendra, but was owned by another trust.

According to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police’s office, the management of Sri Ram Vidya Kendra, Kalladka, and others have been booked for allegedly allowing a vehicle without the mandatory documents to transport students, thereby endangering their safety and operating the vehicle negligently in a public place.

A case has been registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station (Crime No. 109/2026) under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 196 and 192(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is in progress.
