Bengaluru, Jul 22, 2026: It is said love doesn’t end with goodbye, and an elderly auto driver from Bengaluru seems to embody the sentiment every single day. Eight years after losing his wife, the man still begins each morning by placing fresh flowers before her photographs in his auto. His gesture towards his late wife has touched the hearts of people online and has become a reminder that some bonds endure long after death.

The incident was shared on Instagram by a creator named Asish Matthew, who met the elderly auto driver at a traffic signal in Indiranagar in the city. In the clip, he was seen carefully arranging fresh flowers inside his auto. Curious, Asish approached him and asked about the flowers.

“I saw this man arranging flowers inside his auto while waiting at the Indiranagar traffic signal," he said. Pointing at the photographs of his wife that he had placed right above the steering handle, he said, “That’s my wife." He told the creator that his wife passed away eight years ago, but her memory remains an inseparable part of his daily life.

He shared that he has a son, daughter-in-law and six grandchildren, but he still cannot forget her, and the loss of his wife still stays with him. The camera then panned and showed multiple photos of her displayed all over his auto.

The driver further shared that his son encouraged him to retire and remain at home. However, he continues to drive his auto because interacting with new people and staying busy helps him cope with his grief. “If I stay at home, I think too much," he told him.
