No Eligible Voter Will Lose Voting Rights Due to SIR Process: CEO Anbukumar

Mangaluru, July 26, 2026: Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V. Anbukumar has assured that no eligible voter will be deprived of their voting rights due to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

Addressing a review meeting on the progress of the SIR process in Dakshina Kannada district at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday, Anbukumar said eligible voters need not worry even if their names are omitted from the final electoral roll after the revision. Such voters can apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with the prescribed documents and a declaration.

He said enumeration forms have already been distributed to voters and directed officials to expedite the digitization of the forms as they are received. Voters who are unable to return the enumeration forms within the stipulated time can still apply for inclusion in the electoral roll after the final list is published by submitting Form 6, he added.

The Chief Electoral Officer also instructed officials to thoroughly verify cases involving absent, migrated, deceased and duplicate voters and prepare detailed reports. He said these reports should be shared with representatives of political parties to enable them to verify the details and suggest corrections, if required.

Emphasizing the importance of timely digitization, Anbukumar said completing the process at the earliest would facilitate the preparation and publication of the draft electoral roll. He urged Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other election officials to accord top priority to the task.

Deputy Commissioner Darshan H.V. informed the meeting that Dakshina Kannada has 1,803,766 registered voters, all of whom have been issued enumeration forms. Of these, 1,497,139 forms have been digitized, achieving 83 percent progress. He added that 65,588 voters have so far been identified under the ASDD category.

To assist voters during the revision process, 1,098 facilitation centres have been set up across the district. A toll-free helpline (1950) is also operational to address voter queries and grievances, the Deputy Commissioner said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner K. Raju and other district officials attended the review meeting.

Following the meeting, Anbukumar visited the polling station at Capitanio School in the Mangaluru South Assembly constituency to inspect the implementation of the SIR process. He reviewed the enumeration forms collected by Booth Level Officers, provided suggestions for improving the process, and appreciated the voter facilities and arrangements made at the polling station.

Mangaluru Sub-Divisional Officer Meenakshi Arya, Mangaluru City Corporation Deputy Commissioner Akshatha, and other officials accompanied him during the inspection.
