Youth attacked with deadly weapons near Lalbagh in Mangaluru; police launch probe

Mangaluru, Jul 25, 2026: A youth was allegedly attacked with deadly weapons by an unidentified assailant near Lalbagh in Mangaluru city on Saturday, in a suspected attempt to murder.

According to preliminary information, the attacker arrived on a motorcycle and suddenly assaulted the victim, identified as Vikhyath alias Vicky Bappal, from behind before fleeing the scene on the same bike.

The victim sustained injuries to his back and was rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

The attack took place in a busy public area, causing panic among bystanders. The identity of the assailant and the motive behind the attack are yet to be ascertained.

A case has been registered at the Barke Police Station, and an investigation is underway to trace the accused.
