Mangaluru, July 26, 2026: Alert personnel of the CISF and Mangaluru International Airport traced and returned a purse containing USD 10,000, 500 UAE dirhams, a gold ring, an iPhone and other valuables to a passenger who accidentally left it behind after arriving from Dubai on Sunday.

The unattended black purse was spotted on a baggage trolley in the lower ground floor parking area at around 6.15 am by landside security staff member Vittal Hosamani, who immediately alerted the CISF.

Following standard security protocol, the CISF’s Quick Response Team secured the area, while a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, assisted by a sniffer dog, examined the purse and ruled out any explosive threat.

Officials later opened the purse in the presence of witnesses and found a passport, an iPhone, a gold ring, USD 10,000, 500 UAE dirhams, bank cards and a boarding pass.

CCTV footage showed that the passenger had already left the airport. Using details from the boarding pass, officials contacted him through the airline. The passenger, who had arrived on Air India Express flight IX 814 from Dubai, returned to the airport, where the purse and all its contents were handed over after verification of his identity.

Airport authorities said the passenger expressed his gratitude to the CISF and airport staff through a video message, thanking them for their prompt and professional response.
