China, Mar 25, 2026: Stories of animals finding their way home often leave people surprised. But what happened with a group of dogs in China has caught even more attention because of how they managed to stick together and survive a long journey.

Seven dogs, stolen from the same village, somehow escaped and made their way back home. Their journey, which covered a long distance and busy roads, has now become a talking point online.

Dogs Escape And Walk Back Home Together

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), a passerby spotted and filmed the group walking along a highway on March 16. The clip shows the dogs moving together in a neat formation, almost like they were planning their route.

Reports say the dogs were taken by people linked to a dog meat trade. At some point, they managed to escape from a moving vehicle. Instead of scattering, they stayed together and began their journey back.

The group travelled nearly 17 kilometres, crossing highways and busy roads. Despite the risk, they kept moving in the same direction, showing strong coordination.

Corgi Leads The Group On The Road

One of the most striking parts of the video is how a corgi appears to take the lead. It is seen walking ahead and often turning back, as if checking whether the others are following.

The rest of the dogs stayed close, forming a protective circle around an injured German Shepherd walking in the middle. Other dogs, including Retrievers, Labradors and a Pekingese, moved together, not leaving anyone behind.

The video clearly shows the group walking side by side near the highway, staying alert and close to each other throughout the journey.

Volunteers Help Them Return Safely

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that rescue volunteers later confirmed all seven dogs belonged to the same village. Since they were used to being together, it likely helped them stay united during the escape.

Volunteers tracked their movement and helped guide them safely back. By March 19, all seven dogs had reached home and were reunited with their owners.

Internet Reacts To The Heartwarming Escape

As the clip spread online, many people shared their thoughts. A user wrote, “People, please put AirTags on your dogs. Amazon even sells the holders or collars. You don’t deserve a dog, nor do you love your dog if you don’t protect them. You’re welcome. I have them on my dogs. No excuses."

Another commented, “Ten miles of determination, teamwork and a corgi leading the charge, home truly is where the heart is."

A person reacted, “Corgi leading the escape is the most dogs of war energy. loyalty over everything."

Someone joked, “Meanwhile, humans get lost with Google Maps, a full tank of gas, and still call AAA. But a corgi leads 6 homies 17km through highways like it’s nothing. We really are the inferior species in this world."
