Mangaluru, May 10, 2026: A 56-year-old road construction worker from Bihar was killed after a road roller allegedly ran over him near Uppinangady on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Shikari. The accident occurred near Aditya Hotel at Gandhi Park in Uppinangady during road work operations.

According to police, the road roller was allegedly being operated in a rash and negligent manner by the driver, identified as S.K. Kajal, when it ran over Shikari. He died on the spot.
The Puttur Traffic Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
