Mangaluru, October 9, 2026: Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has warned that legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to obstruct lawfully permitted events during Navaratri celebrations, provided the affected parties lodge a complaint.
“Those who attempt to prevent lawful activities based on their personal moral beliefs will face serious consequences and may be punished depending on the severity of the offence. The law provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years for certain such offences,” the Commissioner said.
“If anyone wants to prevent illegal activities, they only need to inform us. We will take appropriate action to stop them,” he added.
The warning comes after certain Sangh Parivar organisations urged the police not to permit what they described as obscene dance performances, fashion shows and Western-style parties organised at various venues in the city in the name of Dandiya celebrations during Navaratri.
