New Delhi, Oct 9, 2026: The Delhi Police on Friday denied permission for the Cockroach Janta Party’s proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10 and imposed prohibitory orders across the New Delhi district.
Security has been tightened in the national capital, with more than 20,000 police and paramilitary personnel deployed for duty.
The police have also directed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to shut 57 metro stations across the city from Friday night, October 9, citing the possibility of unruly crowds.
The Cockroach Janta Party, along with several student and farmer groups, had called for the protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Election Commission and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
