Kuthar Koragajja Circle row: Video of group confronting Speaker U.T. Khader goes viral

Ullal, May 09, 2026: A video showing a group of Muslims allegedly objecting to the construction of a circle in the name of Koragajja at Kuthar Junction and confronting Assembly Speaker U. T. Khader has gone viral on social media.

Nitte Deemed University is currently constructing a traffic circle at Kuthar Junction. Amid this, a group from the Muslim community reportedly surrounded Speaker Khader and questioned him over the proposed naming of the circle after Koragajja during a private programme held at a resort in Ullal Mastikatte on Thursday night. The video of the incident has since been widely circulated online.

Years ago, the local Bajrang Dal unit had built a small circle at Kuthar Junction featuring replicas of Koragajja’s “muttale” and staff to help devotees visiting the Kuthar Koragajja shrine from different parts of the state identify the location.

Now, after removing the old structure, Nitte Deemed University has taken up the construction of a new “Souharda Circle.” It is said that the proposed design includes information boards about the Koragajja shrine as well as places of worship belonging to other communities.

Meanwhile, the video of the group confronting local MLA and Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader over the issue has been widely shared on social media.
