Police said 91 people, including several MPs and political leaders, were detained during the protest.

Rahul Gandhi led leaders of the I.N.D.I.A. bloc in a street protest before being detained along with several MPs.

The protesters were stopped by police while travelling by bus for a planned sit-in at Jantar Mantar following a lunch meeting at Janpath.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other women leaders sat on the road holding copies of the Constitution. They were subsequently removed by police and taken away in buses amid slogans by opposition members demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

MPs from the Congress, Trinamool Congress, CPI(M), CPI, RJD, IUML and several other parties participated in the protest.
