Bantwal, Oct 7, 2026: Vitla police have arrested a man who had allegedly been absconding for around 15 years without appearing before the court in a cheating case involving promises of bank jobs.

The arrested accused has been identified as Hibbathullah (52), a resident of Balnad.

Abscond

A case was registered against Hibbathullah at the Vitla police station in 2011 for allegedly collecting money from two people after promising to secure them bank jobs. He allegedly failed to arrange the jobs and did not return the money.

As part of their operation, Vitla police took the accused into custody on October 5 and produced him before the court. The court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.
